I'm back!! And in the pink!

Hi

Well i'm back, not back running. Well I have run since I last blogged but haven't been running through all the horrible weather. BUT I have been losing weight. 21.5lbs altogether so about halfway to my target
I have had a bad week this week so must get back to it and focus.
Got some gorgeous pink shoes from my sister so feel like i've received a lovely treat and must keep up all the hard work.

Industrial Revolution!

Well I was determined to have a good run this morning, despite the drop in temp. Decided to do a loop around the industrial estate near the office I was at today.

I started out very well and felt strong, then disaster on slight descent my right knee seemed to give a bit and a sharp pain shot across it. Had to hobble, limp, walk and try and jog back.....seemed ok since, maybe it was just having a cold knee and I needed some extra layers there.

Hope i'm not broken, will head out on Sunday for a longer gentle jog and see how it goes.

Shaved!

Ok so it's not ground breaking, well actually to me it is. I managed to shave 1min 31secs off my little loop time today. If only I could keep my best pace going for longer. Sure it will come with time.

No photo again today. Not really enjoying running in the dark even with the head torch :o( will still have a go at the loop on thursday but will get out for a longer run in the daylight at the weekend.

....In other news...

I lost 4.5lbs this week, that's nearly all i'd put on over Christmas just half a pound away.

Keeeeeeep running.......

Strip n' run!

Crawled out of bed at 5.40am and pulled on my gear. The wind was howling, again. Drove to the beach and temp gauge read a balmy 10 degrees.
Parked up near the other end and decided to do a wee loop as my legs felt heavy. A quarter of the way round and I was boiling! Gloves off, buff off, jacket off.....SO warm, will do less layers tomorrow.

No photo today it was just too dark. Will maybe try tomorrow. Being so dark gave me the chance to try out my new head torch, was very good. Gave me the ability to spot dog poo and other runners or people walking their dogs before they made me jump!

Also felt like I needed some easy listening tunes today so went the for the easy Dolly Parton.

Going to do the same loop tomorrow and maybe Thurs and see if I can pick up the pace a bit. Not sure i'll ever be a fast runner, maybe once i've lost some weight.

Back to the Beach Baby!

So after returning to work today and back to the routine of getting up at stupid o' clock I wasn't sure how i'd feel about going for a run at the beach after work but when I got there and was greeted by this....

....lovely! I was all inspired again.

I didn't want to push it and do sprints yet as i'm not feeling 100% and i'm still a wee bit chesty.
I did a nice easy jog south into the headwind then a faster pace back up. Did just over 2.5 miles so nothing massive.

I was rewarded when I got back to the car with this lovely sight of the sun starting to drop over the tower block skyline of eastern Aberdeen, I think the sky looks pretty magical.

In healthy eating news all is going well and I have just made and eaten the most delicious turkey curry.

Next run might be Sunday but if not it'll be the beach again but in the dark Monday early doors.

There and back again in 4 minutes.....A Lazy Tale

Well after thinking the weather was far too wet and wild to go out I got my kit on and geared myself up for a short jog to the village and back.

Just around the corner from home on the lane I could go no further.......

The gate across means sheep are on the move and I didn't fancy waiting 20-30 mins in the cold wind for them to get their woolly backsides shifted. So I ran back up the hill and down again. I was going to do this several times but the uphill seemed to have a nasty headwind and all the festive gluttony was playing havoc with my ability to move so I just trotted back home again, took a picture of a light dusting of snow on the hills

I did use my new watch but the stats are too comical to share! The elevation was fairly impressive but distance and time are laughable.

I will make more of an effort tomorrow. I'll head down to the beach tomorrow after work.

Starting Point

So I was given a GPS watch for Christmas to inspire my running. I've yet to use it as I haven't been well enough to run.
I will use it on Thursday this week for the first time and should be able to link my routes here.
I will try and post a photo from each run I do.

In other news I was back at my Slimming World class last night and have gained 5lbs since 12 December. I had little restraint over the festive period and over-indulged.
The slimming class is good and I was motivated to plan healthy meals for the week ahead. And the food shop is done so there is no excuse!

I don't like to wish time away but i'm looking forward to the clocks going forward in March so I can get my runs looking like this again, above, instead of this....

See you Thursday!
